What is Vaulting?

Vaulting is best described as Gymnastics on horseback. It is also sometimes known as "Artistic Riding".

Vaulting is a rapidly growing sport and its roots can be traced back as far as 2000 B.C in Minos. The Romans used vaulting as part of their basic riding skills. During the medieval period it was used to train knights in the art of horsemanship, and during the Baroque times it was used to express personal wealth.

Currently there are 21 clubs that exist in the UK.

Vaulting is one of the disciplines recognised by the FEI (Federation Equestre Internationale).

Vaulting which is practiced today was developed in Germany after WWII to introduce children to equestrian sports.

You do not need to be able to ride in order to vault.

Equestrian vaulting is a year round sport which can take place both indoors or outdoors.

" The best thing I have done with the team is not an event, but the enjoyment of working in such a team, where we are not competeing against eachother, but we are helping eachother, correcting faults, and moving along together."
